　�、� 表示過去某個特定時間發(fā)生的動作或存在的狀態(tài)常有明確的時間狀語，如 yesterday,last night,some years ago,in 1890 等，以及由 when 等引導的時間狀語從句。

　　例如：

　　Tom didn't come to class yesterday.

　　湯姆昨天沒來上課。

　　We went to dance last night.

　　昨晚我們?nèi)ヌ�舞了�?br />
　　Hello! I didn't know you were in London.How long have you been here?

　　喂！我不知道你在倫敦。你來多久了？

　　⒉ 表示過去的習慣性或經(jīng)常發(fā)生的動作，常與 always，often，usually，seldom 等表示頻度的副詞連用。

　　例如：

　　Then I was in the countryside,I often called on my old friends there.

　　我在鄉(xiāng)村里，經(jīng)常去拜訪那里的朋友。

　　I went to the cinema once a week when I was at school.

　　我上學時每周去看一場電影。

　　注意：表示過去經(jīng)�；蚍磸桶l(fā)生的動作，還可用 used to 或 would 加動詞原形表示。

　　例如：

　　When I stayed at Aunt Liu's,she would tell me about the great changes which had taken place in the village since liberation.

　　當我住在劉大娘家時，她常常告訴我解放以來農(nóng)村發(fā)生的巨大變化。

　　She used to go for a walk after supper,but now she prefers to stay at home.

　　她過去晚飯后總出去散步，但現(xiàn)在她卻真歡呆在家里。

　　⒊ 用來代替過去將來時。

　　在條件、時間狀語從句中，常用一般過去時代替過去將來時。

　　例如：

　　They said they would let us know if they heard any news about him.

　　他們說如果聽到什么關于他的消息，就通知我們。

　　He promised that when he went to the bookstore,he would buy me a book.

　　他答應去書店時為我買本書。

　　He said he would not go if it rained.

　　他說如果天下雨就不去了。

　　They told us that they would not leave until she came back.

　　他們告訴我們，直到她回來他們才會離開。
