　　詢問時(shí)用過去進(jìn)行時(shí)更客氣一些：

　　I was wondering if you could give me a lift.

　　我不知您能不能讓我搭一下車。

　　I wondered if you could give me a lift.

　�。ㄓ眠^去進(jìn)行時(shí)顯得更加委婉，更加不確定）

　　在敘述故事時(shí)，過去進(jìn)行時(shí)表示故事發(fā)生的背景情況：

　　It was evening. The sun was setting. Agentle wind was blowing through the trees. In the distance I noticed a Land Rover moving across the dusty plain. It stopped and two men jumped out of it.

　　傍晚，太陽快落山了，清風(fēng)從樹中吹過。我看見遠(yuǎn)處有一輛越野車在塵土飛揚(yáng)原野上行駛。車停了，兩個(gè)人從車上跳下來。
